When Letters Replace Words of Farewell to the Students and Teachers of Raffles Institution (Singapore)

Bringing to a close a week-long journey brimming with experiences in the Capital, on the afternoon of Monday (5 October 2026), the farewell ceremony for the delegation of students and teachers from Raffles Institution (Singapore) took place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Lower and Upper Secondary School in a warm and moving atmosphere imbued with friendship. Although a week is not very long, it was enough for young friends from two different cultures to write a beautiful story of sharing and connection.

The Prelude of Kindred Hearts

The ceremony opened with the radiant presence of two masters of ceremonies: the President of the English Club (E4E) and a representative friend from the “Lion City”. Through their harmonious coordination, the hall instantly felt closer and warmer than ever. Listening to the profound speeches delivered by the leaders of the two schools, every student clearly felt the trust placed in the young generation – those who are, step by step, painting a picture of peace and global integration.

Language has become a strong bond connecting the NTT-ers and the students of Raffles Institution.

The leaders of the two schools expressed their deep gratitude and their appreciation for the close and friendly partnership built over the past period.

Perhaps the most moving moment was when the Raffles Institution students carefully wrote their handwritten letters. Every stroke carried heartfelt feelings and sincere gratitude to Nguyen Tat Thanh Lower and Upper Secondary School for its warm and wholehearted welcome throughout the past days.

Handwritten letters conveying the simple, heartfelt sentiments of the students from our partner country.

Leaving Behind a Glimpse of Hà Nội in Every Frame

Continuing the programme, the whole hall fell into a reflective silence as everyone immersed themselves in the “recap” film – a summary of the entire memorable week-long journey, filled with so many memories. Each frame appeared like a pure piece of youth: eager eyes in front of new lessons, hesitant yet delighted footsteps exploring every corner of Hà Nội’s Old Quarter, and bursts of laughter while discovering new knowledge at the museums. The whole space seemed to grow still, filled with emotion as a memorable journey came to an end.

A Season of Friendship Blooming Far and Wide

Representatives of the two schools presented vibrant bouquets of flowers as an expression of deep gratitude, along with warm embraces at the moment of parting.

Sharing thoughts on the emotional final day at the school bearing Uncle Hồ’s name, Lê Quang – a Vietnamese student currently studying at Raffles Institution – could not hide the mixed emotions: “I feel both sad and regretful that I couldn’t spend more time ‘hanging out’ with everyone. But in return, I also feel truly fulfilled and proud to have visited so many places in Hà Nội and to have made some wonderful new friends.”

A week of experiences has come to an end, but the friendship across borders will forever remain intact in everyone’s heart.

As the ceremony ended, the school drum sounded, yet its echoes lingered on. Today’s farewell is not a full stop, but a door opening to a brilliant new chapter of cross-border friendship between the students of Nguyen Tat Thanh Lower and Upper Secondary School and Raffles Institution. And as our Raffles friends return to Singapore, they will surely carry with them beautiful memories of Hà Nội, of the school bearing Uncle Hồ’s name and of the sincere affection shared throughout the journey.
